The content and media landscape evolved rapidly, with streaming platforms becoming central to consumer engagement and digital monetisation. At the Twimbit Telecom Awards in 2024 and 2025, PCCW won the Telco to Ace Content and Media category for a second consecutive year, underscoring its leadership in content and media innovation. This recognition reflected the company’s ability to scale its entertainment ecosystem and strengthen its competitive position regionally and globally.

PCCW’s momentum was driven by the strong performance of Viu, its flagship OTT platform. Viu attracted 15.5 million paid subscribers across 16 markets in Asia, the Middle East and South Africa, demonstrating the platform’s expanding reach and consistent engagement. Content and media contributed 7.7 percent to PCCW’s total revenue, highlighting the growing significance of digital entertainment in the company’s portfolio.

The company reinforced this growth with strategic investments in diversified content. It expanded Chinese dramas, Viu Originals and curated Korean content, creating a dynamic catalogue tailored to varied regional audiences. Now TV, Hong Kong’s leading 24-hour multimedia platform, further strengthened PCCW’s position through news, sports and finance. The service also provided free access to Now TV channels 331 and 332, along with BPL highlights in Cantonese narration, strengthening engagement among local audiences.

Partnerships played a meaningful role in scaling Viu’s offering. PCCW broadened its collaborations beyond telcos to include digital economy players such as Grab, Trip.com and Zalora. This extended network supported distribution, improved accessibility and strengthened Viu’s visibility across high-growth digital ecosystems. These efforts contributed to Viu achieving the number one position in paid subscribers and the number two position in MAU and streaming minutes.

PCCW also enhanced its operational efficiency by leveraging AI-powered content recommendations on Viu to improve user engagement and maximise revenue. Its continued focus on building relevant, data-driven viewing experiences enabled the platform to maintain strong retention and deepen audience loyalty across diverse markets.

Together, these initiatives positioned PCCW as a leader in content and media innovation. Its consecutive wins at the Twimbit Telecom Awards highlighted the company’s strategic clarity, its disciplined execution and its ability to deliver compelling entertainment value across regions.
